Hamas European Contacts Has Increased After The End Of The War On Gaza

The Independent, a British newspaper, revealed that a number of European countries had started a secret talks with Hamas, despite that Hamas name is in the blacklist of the European Union.

The newspaper has learned that two members of the French Senate traveled to meet the head of the political bureau of Hamas Khaled Meshaal two weeks ago, which consider the first meeting of its kind. It noted that two members of the British House of Commons visited the Lebanese capital of Beirut, three weeks ago and met with Hamas representative in Lebanon Osama Hamdan.

The Independent reported about high-level European diplomat saying: "The number of Western officials, who talk to Hamas officials, more than occur to anyone, and this is the beginning of a new thing but not yet reached the end negotiations.

In the same context, the Quds press agency said that the Hamas representative in Lebanon, Osama Hamdan, disclosed that communications with the Europeans had not been interrupted by the Zionist aggression on Gaza, during, or after, and stressed that after the attack it started to take a more serious nature, but it is still at the beginning of the road.

Hamdan clarified in press statements that the Union communicate with Hamas increased its pace after the war on Gaza, and said: "There has been a European contacts with Hamas before the aggression and the course, there's no doubt that these contacts have increased after the attack, and out of these communications is that Europe had made a mistake when it put Hamas within the terrorism list, and that it has signed under the U.S. pressure ,and its position was not an expression of their conviction.

Hamdan added "The parties from the Europeans that have contacted us realize that what had not been achieved through a form of prior pressure on "Hamas", which reached to the level of war, cannot be achieved through further aggression. Therefore, there must be dialogue as only way to achieve stability.

The Hamas representative in Lebanon pointed out that Europe found itself in front of big ethical question about the truth of its position on democracy: Do you want a real democracy or an institutions follow it? If it wants institutions following it, Europeans have to stop calling for democracy, but if it is serious about democracy it must deals with the results of democracy".

Hamdan described the European contact move with Hamas as positive but it is still preliminary, and he said "We have a long way needs time before Europe realizes that dealing with Hamas is the way to stability".
