Elham : Iran's Omid Satellite For Scientific Purpose

Semnan, Feb 5 – Government Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham on Thursday dismissed Western concern over Iran’s first domestic satellite, saying it has no military application.

“The launch of Omid (Hope) satellite into orbit is totally scientific and has nothing to do with military purposes. Remarks which are made by certain countries are aimed at diverting Iran from its way,” Elham told IRNA.

He added, “Iran is moving forward in scientific fields at high speed. The Islamic Republic has cultural strength as the military power has proved futile in the world.”

The spokesman noted that Iran acts in accordance with its principles, saying, “These principles include justice, human dignity, respect for countries’ independence and equality of governments.”

He added that enemies made accusations against Iran that its nuclear program has military purposes. “But Iran’s nuclear activities are aimed at generating electricity.”

Elham said that Israel was unable to defeat Hamas and Hezbollah in Gaza and Lebanon, adding the regime’s failure proved that military approaches have failed.
